First lady of Edo state welcomes new year baby

It is the first day of the year 2019 and Wife of Edo state Governor Betsy obaseki and her entourage are at Stella obasanjo hospital in Benin City to felicitate with the parents of the first baby of the year.

Mrs ifeoma uwegbae delivered the first baby of the year at 12:46am weighing 3kg.

Betsy Obaseki presents her with Special baby items donated by the Secretary to state government osarodion ogie Esquire.
Other mothers present also received gifts from the wife of the governor in the spirit of the Yule tide.

Mother, First Baby Of The Year, Stella Obasanjo Hospital Ifeoma Uwegba said "I will say a very big thank you to her Excellency, she has really done well, she gave us gifts. Thank you very much, we are all happy, thank God. May God continue to bless her and grant her long life and prosperity in Jesus name".

Providence smiled on Faith Frank who could not pay her hospital bills after delivering a set of twins.

The Edo first lady and her team proceeds to central hospital to welcome baby dominion Eric,born at 7:20am to Mrs Roseline Erick weighing 4 kg.

But not without stopping by to dole out cash gifts to other mothers at the hospital and settle the medical bills of this mother who is sickle cell patient.

Roseline Eric (Mother, First Baby Of The Year, Central Hospital) : I'm the most excited person in the whole word, I did not expect that the first lady will come and see us, I was even surprise.

At Faith Mediplex she received Royalty Evbakhare weighing 3:85kg born at 3:06pm, about an hour before her arrival, to the young couple Mr and Mrs Harrison Evbakhare.

She had words of encouragement for the couple.

The doctor who delivered the new year baby Dr David Atiti at Faith Mediplex Hospital said Thank you so much for visiting, and apart from visiting, you actually came with so much of gifts like the wise Men. They say three but I don't have a number for them because they gave three gifts, you as an individual with your entourage, you gave more than three gifts. We appreciate you sincerely and we thank you for coming.

Father, First baby of the year, Faith Mediplex) Harrison Evabakhare said I'm so excited, being the first gift from the lord, this year 2019.I know the coming of this baby has come to change the cause of this family. And I also appreciate the doctors that did the good work, I know it was God, but coupled with skills made it easy. I appreciate you Ma for coming

But as she made her round through the ward these women about seven of them requested her intervention over their unpaid hospital bills to which she obliged.

Dr Darlington Obaseki (CMD., UBTH) said Finding time to come personally, we were not expecting you, it was a pleasant surprise. On behalf of everybody, we say thank you so much.

For these women the year 2019 seems to be starting on a promising note as the visit by her Excellency, the First Lady of Edo State has brought a breath of fresh air to them.
