Nine individuals have been affirmed dead, while one other was harmed after a Toyota Hummer collided with a truck in Awo people group, in the Irepodun/Ifelodun region of Ekiti State.
It was learnt that authorities of the Federal Road Safety Corps and policemen from the Ekiti State order reacted to the occurrence, as sympathizers helped with drawing out the damaged stays of the casualties from the vehicle.
It was learnt that the main survivor was the transport driver.
The vehicle was originating from Lagos and making a beeline for Abuja when the mischance happened around 6am on Igede-Awo Road.
An authority of the FRSC, who addressed The Punch on the telephone, said the driver was on top speed when he smashed into the trailer.
He stated, "It was a 18-seater transport and it crashed into the trailer on Igede-Awo Road. The mishap occurred around 6.15am. A sum of 11 individuals were included. Nine individuals kicked the bucket and their carcasses have been stored at the funeral home of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti. The two individuals who got harmed were admitted to the restorative focus. The vehicle was not completely stacked.
"It's not possible for anyone to truly say where the transport was originating from on the grounds that there was no traveler show. Yet, from the number plate of the vehicle, we trust the travelers were originating from Lagos. Both the transport and the trailer were on movement."
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said the transport had the number plate, Lagos EKY 978 XJ, while the trailer was enrolled, Yobe XB 404 FKA.
Ikechukwu, who likewise affirmed nine passings, stated, "The transport smashed into a stationary DAF truck. Nine people on board the transport kicked the bucket on the spot, while the main survivor supported genuine wounds. The expired were evacuated by our men and stored in a funeral home. The survivor was in a state of extreme lethargy, so we couldn't talk with him for any data."
