Based on what’s obtainable in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2016-2018, the Federal Government has earmarked the sum of N350.33 billion as targeted amount of government funds to recover in 2016.
Recovery of funds misappropriated by former public figures is part of the revenue generating sources of the government for next year.
Out of the N350.33bn expected to be recovered, N137.9bn will be recovered through what is described as ‘Strategic Alliance Contract’ while N162.43bn would be recovered through the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation while N50bn would come from the ‘Recovery of other misappropriated funds’.
The President will address the joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives, while he presents the nation’s financial framework for next year.
The lawmakers are said to be inclined to fast-tracking the process of deliberations on the bill and ultimately, passage into law.
The Bill is expected to be presented for first reading on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the National Assembly will close for the year.
