Called the ‘Abuja Accord’, the event was held in Abuja and attended by former United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Anan, and former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku. All eight presidential candidates signed the document.
Following the signing, the Buhari campaign continued on to Oshogbo, Osun State and was treated to a rousing welcome by an extremely large crowd.
Present at the rally were national leader of the party, John Oyegun; the director general for Buhari’s campaign organisation, Governor Rotimi Amaechi; former governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi; and former governor of Osun state, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
The campaign which held at Oshogbo Stadium saw Governor Rauf Aregbesola reveal to the excited crowd that Buhari is the best candidate to lead the nation. “This election is different because it is about freedom… God has answered our prayers by providing us the best candidate to govern us. Nigeria doesn't want any kind of luck, Nigeria deserves the best luck. Muhammadu Buhari is the best luck for Nigeria,” he told the filled stadium.
Muhammadu Buhari then took to the stage reaffirming his commitment to restructure Nigeria if voted for. “My government will ensure that we break the vicious cycle of unemployment, insecurity, power supply, corruption in Nigeria.” He also stressed the importance for people to pick up their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and to take the time to vote in February.
