Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has confessed
that he will miss the services of first choice
goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama in this weekend’s
2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against
Congo in Calabar.
The Lille of France goalie was granted Keshi’s
permission to stay out of the matches against
Congo and South Africa and speaking from the
team’s training camp in Calabar, Keshi admitted
that Enyeama was central in his plans to
qualify Nigeria for the 2015 tournament,
scheduled to hold in Morocco.
“Enyeama is my first-choice goalkeeper. He is a
very reliable and fantastic player, who I adore a
lot because of his loyalty to the national cause. I
will miss him”, said Keshi.
Meanwhile, Former VVV Venlo gaolie, Robin
Udegbe, has rued the absence of Vincent
Enyeama for the upcoming games.
“I think the coach will find a good solution to
replace Enyeama. Both Ejide and Agbim have
enough experience to handle such a situation,”
Udegbe said.
‘In the end the coach will use the impressions of
the training sessions to decide who is the better
one.
“Maybe now there is the chance to invite a
young future goalkeeper to get some
experience.”
The German-Nigerian added: “It is very difficult
to replace Vincent Enyeama because he is the
best African goalkeeper. But it is a big chance
for the other goalkeepers to show their skills as
well.
“The national team has to be prepared when
Vincent Enyeama is not able to play. The way
Vincent Enyeama plays is brilliant. He gives the
team a lot of confidence and transmits a unique
calmness. Furthermore, he has an excellent left
foot and he is very good on the line,” he
concluded.
